1977 Australian War Memorial Annex

1977 Australian War Memorial Annex

The Australian War Memorial Repository carried related themes into a very large building group containing administrative offices, areas for restoration work, specialist storage areas and factory-like spaces to allow work on large objects such as a V2 rocket.

The complex exhibits the best quality of Taglietti's architecture.

It is an economical building well fitted for it's purpose, but enriched by the exhuberance that is his hallmark.

Excerpt from Australian Architecture since the 60's - Jennifer Taylor

... an urban interface created by constructing a virtual continuous three metre high off-form concrete perimeter wall. This is literally urban rather than symbolically so in that the block is well defined and there is no purposeless space left over at the street edge.
